An exhibition of ceramic teapots – Oct 2018 to Jan 2019

We invite you to an exhibition of ceramic teapots by 7 ceramists on display at the beautiful restaurant Fabcafe in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, India. Here is what the ceramists have to say about their creations –

1. Divyam Surabhi: Coiled Teapot – I feel great joy in hand-building using this special coiling technique. Coils of clay are placed on top of each other. Patiently, a texture is created merging the coils.

2. Nishant Kumar: My inspiration is the architectural and historic buildings of Delhi. The colour and shape of this teapot is inspired by nature and seashells.

3. Priyanka Sharma: Teapot on the wall – Teapot on the wall is a creative expression beyond the world of utility. It represents a concept rather than a tableware. My concept behind this work was to see art for display in objects of day to day life.

4. Seema Kalra: Inspired by a tree filled with beavers’ nests in Aravalli Biodiversity Park. Hope it further inspires us to take a break and enjoy chai and charcha with our favourite bunch of people. Stoneware teapot high fired in an electric kiln.

5. Shehla Hashmi: Teapot tests all the skills of a potter, so making a teapot is always a little adventure of a sort. I have enjoyed making them. Looking at the final result is another level of joy. On this teapot I have used White and Tenmoku which are two of my favourite glazes.

6. Sneh Sharma: Radient flowing glaze, shines like rays, flow yet stop, to define the leeway.

7. Vibha Budhraja: White is associated with light, goodness and purity. It is considered to be the color of perfection. Black is associated with power, elegance, formality and mystery. Thus it’s an ideal representation of elegance and perfection.
